This papers seeks to establish a baseline for subjective well-being assessing the level of happiness, optimism and satisfaction among residents within two structurally varying urban contexts. Correlations have been drawn from demography related attributes and conventional socioeconomic parameters such as income, religion and caste. The locations representing a metropolitan and a tier 2 level city was Gandhinagar and Mumbai respectively limiting its scope to an urban context.
